Tanzania biking safaris
Tanzania is an undiscovered bicycle tour paradise. From the foothills of Kilimanjaro with its mountain villages and coffee farms, to the plains below, and beyond through the Usambara mountains down to the Pangani Coast, there are countless miles of dirt roads, footpaths, and singletrack to explore. CAS’s Tanzania bike tours range from half-day to full-day to multi-day and can be custom-designed for all skill levels. All bike tours are guided and include the use of Kona or Bergamont brand hardtail mountain bikes and cycling helmets. Mullti-day rides are fully supported with a sag wagon. A Tanzania bicycle tour can be the centerpiece of your African adventure or added as an extension to any itinerary.

Beginning at our Mbahe Village Farm cottages this 3-day ride circumnavigates the mountain counterclockwise to finish at Simba Farm in West Kilimanjaro. The 160 kilometer route travels mostly on all-weather dirt roads that loop the mountain through colorful villages, past lush coffee and maize farms, and out into the drier upland and less densely populated Maasai areas on the northwestern slopes of Kilimanjaro. Camp sites have stunning views of both the mountain above and the plains below.
CAS has developed an exclusive route from Mambo Village on the western tip of the Usambara Mountains to Tanzania’s beautiful Swahili Coast. There are plenty of sweat-inducing uphills and long winding descents on this magnificent backroad ride passing through picturesque villages across the spine of the Usambara Mountains, through tea and coffee farms, two nature reserves, and onto the coastal plain to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Four days of cycling, all on smooth dirt roads or singletrack.
